Planning & structural design
The proposed website will consist of three integrated parts; an interface, a HTML/CSS templates and a CMS/database or back-end, where applicable.
Interface Design & Visual Solutions
The interface reflects the screen layout, navigation and overall experience that a user has whilst navigating the site.
Our primary aim is to provide a bespoke product, tailored to your requirements. The finished website will be an integrated solution that combines the functionality of a highly intuitive Content Management System with the aesthetics of high-end design.
Our selected CMS systems are particularly user friendly where the admin section textually replicates the live site.
Database
Before any development can begin, a database is created, focused on your particular needs which will enable the CMS to work quickly and efficiently.
Access to the database will be via secure password authentication. This will lead administrators to the Content Management Interface where they can edit all of the dynamic information on the site in real time.
Particular attention will be paid to making the database scalable – experience has shown that the CMS has to be engineered to handle the growth reflected by our clients’ developing needs. The back-end will be developed using established technologies, such as PHP MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server and ‘open structure’ methodology to enable future developments to be incorporated with ease.
Cross browser compatibility
Our sites are checked on both PC and MAC formats making sure they render correctly in the major browsers. Please also note that earlier browser versions may render style sheets with minor differences and this is to be expected and does not effect usability.
Hosting
Our servers are based in a secure UK location. These servers are backed up daily and all tapes are held securely off-site. The systems are housed in climate-controlled cabinets that benefit from multiple redundancy power supply systems and our connectivity is via 14 Gigabit Ethernet links from six separate backbone providers. Giving us redundancy and high availability.
Both locations are under 24/7-camera surveillance (and armed guard patrol)
Additional servers at our Head office location ensure that the online servers are backed up to allow rapid replacement of systems in case of catastrophic failure.
Both our Unix and MS servers are capable of supporting the requirements of this Website system, and benefit from high capacity redundancy and high availability.
Both our host systems are currently running at better than 99.9% uptime (100% uptime since 2015) and it is not anticipated that this will be affected in any way by the addition of your website system. We monitor system response times and uptimes from a ghost site in America and monitor this against the current bandwidth and system status.
The quote is based on Webheads hosting your site. 3rd Party hosting will incur transfer costs
Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights
The client agrees not to distribute, copy or sell any code developed by Webheads other than for the purpose of managing or continuing development of this website subject of this contract. Where the website subject of this contract is managed, adapted or extended by a third party appointed by the client, that party will be required by client to agree to these terms of the licence agreement and may not distribute or use such code for sites outside the web project www domain.
We do not allow Admin nor FTP access nor any third party developers access to the website nor servers. Transfer of the site away from Webheads will attract a standard fee of £5000.00 per site and may also require a client to buy a licence/IPR.
Retainer & Hosting cancellation period is 90 days.
Development & testing
The development phase can be split between pre-production and development and brings together the technical and creative concepts. Graphical and web representation are two very different matters; however, our technical and creative team work hand-in-hand from the outset to achieve a seamless integration.
Pre-production materials are combined to produce the web pages whilst the technical design is used to form the navigation of the site. The development stage includes the coding of the site when all the planning and creative elements come together.
In development, we use a number of technologies and frameworks, such as PHP, ASP.NET with C# as well as several development tools. Pulling together front-end, middle-ware and back-end systems seamlessly requires significant care in integration. This phase will ensure a perfect ‘query’ and ‘delivery’ interchange between the user interface and the database back-end.
Testing
We pride ourselves on our attention to detail. Prior to delivery, we will fully test all functionality and proof read all content. Our applications are tested on several browsers and across varied platforms. All back-end systems are ‘Black-box’ (independent of external systems) and ‘White-box’ (checks data flows and integrity) tested for full data compatibility.
Payment terms
All costs are inclusive of reasonable (usually one to two) changes to content, unless stated otherwise. Any additional requirements will be costed separately. Payment terms are immediate on completion of various stages of the project. These stages are as follows:
Stage 1
Commencement of project 30%.
Stage 2
Agreement of website designs – 30%. It is essential that the design process is 100% approved before the programming stage (or 30days postagreement)
Stage 3
Provide administration area for test and agreement of functionality – 30%
(or 60 days post agreement)
Stage 4
Acceptance testing and go live – 10% (or 90 days post agreement)
As work will commence immediately, we ask for the Stage 1 invoice to be paid at the start of the project.
Subsequent invoices are on our standard 30 day terms. If the client enforces a delay in production, we reserve the right to invoice subsequent phases on a monthly basis, regardless of completion of work to a maximum of 90% of the total cost.
(Late payment may incur additional charges as per the Late Payment of
Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998).
